What is a pool thermometer for?
You might think that measuring the temperature of the pool water gives the starting signal for a pleasant bath. Yes, but not only! It is also used to know how to regulate the water temperature in the pool, better maintain the water quality, plan and adjust the treatments...
Why monitor the water temperature in the pool?
Water quality, balance and temperature are closely related. In order to achieve results in times of great heat, namely to be able to bathe in clear, clear and refreshing water, it is necessary to carry out daily actions and checks on the water.
The filter time is really very important, especially in times of great heat. In fact, the hotter the water, the longer the filtration time. A filtration time of at least half of the temperature value must be provided. So if the water has a temperature of 24°C, the filtration takes 12 hours.
It is essential that the pool pump runs for at least 20 hours when the water temperature is above 27°C, and 24 hours a day when the water temperature is above 27°C and 30°C!
Otherwise, even if the pH and chlorine level are correct, the pool can quickly turn green. And who better to measure this information than the swimming pool thermometer? There it shows its usefulness.
Unless the swimming pool is equipped with a pH regulator and automatic treatment, these two data must be checked and readjusted every evening. For a small boost, rub the pool walls with a broom every 2 to 3 days to remove the microalgae that could stick to them. 10 to 15 minutes a day of easy maintenance to enjoy a healthy swimming pool for hours, it's worth it!
Most water treatment, chlorine (the most commonly used) and oxygen products for swimming pools are sensitive to the sun's rays. Therefore, it is necessary to apply the product more often.
The treatment products are active, but the higher the temperature, the less effective it is. Therefore, it is necessary to adjust and increase daily doses in hot weather. Once again, the thermometer shows its usefulness.
If the region is very hot and is used to a lot of sun, it may be possible to opt for more UV-resistant treatments such as bromine or ultra-purple.
The water is active, between 12 and 14 degrees, so the thermometer gives the signal for the reopening or wintering of the pool. The salt electrolyser can only work when the water temperature is above 16°C.
The thermometer remains the essential tool for starting or stopping this device. You can also use the thermometer to check that the pool heater is working properly, if it has one.
If you know the water temperature before swimming, you can take a dive or go in carefully to get used to more or less cool water temperature.
In short, the thermometer is not just a simple device, it knows how to be indispensable. It gives an orientation to maintain optimal water quality by allowing the adaptation of the treatment to the water temperature and, of course, gives the bather indications of the conditions of his future bathing.
